Frank Messana, DO, MRO, CIME

Dr. Frank Messana is board-certified in Family Practice and has extensive training in Occupational Medicine. Dr. Messana is a native of the Detroit area and moved to Chicago in 1988 to attend Elmhurst College, where he received a Bachelor’s Degree in Biology with high honors in 1992.   Dr. Messana then attended the Chicago College of Osteopathic Medicine where he graduated in 1996. Following an internship at Cook County Hospital in 1996-1997 he worked in private practice providing care in family medicine and occupational medicine before returning to a residency at Midwestern University in 1999 which he completed in 2001. During his residency he continued to work part time in Occupational Medicine in Indiana. Prior to co-founding Comprehensive Care with Dr. Michael Foreit in 2003, Dr. Messana staffed Saint Margaret Mercy’s Occupational Clinic in Griffith and also worked at Saint Anthony’s Occupational/Urgent care “Medwatch” clinics in Michigan City and Chesterton. He is a certified Medical Review Officer through the American Association of Medical Review Officers.   

Dr. Messana also received additional training in Independent Medical Examinations and received his CIME in 2007. Dr. Messana’s training also included disability ratings through the American Board of Independent Medical Examiners. He is also a National Registry Certified Medical Examiner.

Michael Foreit, DO

Dr. Michael Foreit is a board certified Family Physician with extensive experience in Occupational Medicine. Born in South Chicago and raised in Northwest Indiana, he graduated from Loyola University with a Bachelor’s of Science Degree. Following college, Dr. Foreit attended both the Chicago College of Osteopathic Medicine and New York Osteopathic University graduating with a Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree in 1994. His postdoctoral training was completed at The Chicago College of Osteopathic Medicine/Midwestern University’s Internship and Family Practice Residency Programs from 1994 to 1997. From 1997 to 2003, Dr. Foreit was the Director of Occupational Medicine for St. Margaret Mercy’s Lake Ridge Clinic. In 2003 Dr. Foreit co-founded Comprehensive Care with Dr. Frank Messana.

Dr. Foreit received his National Registry Certified Medical Examiner certification in 2014.

David Foreit, DO

Dr. David Foreit is a Board Certified Family Physician with extensive experience in non-surgical back care and wellness programs.

Dr. Foreit is a second generation Osteopathic Physician who focuses on the body’s ability to heal.  Dr. Foreit focuses on utilizing homeopathic remedies to assist in treating his patients.  Prior to starting with Comprehensive Care, Dr. Foreit practiced family medicine for twelve years.

Dr. Foreit received his National Registry Certified Medical Examiner certification in 2014.

Bruce Horton, RPh, DO, FACOEP, CMRO

Dr. Bruce Horton completed his undergraduate education at Ferris State University and completed his medical education at The Chicago College of Osteopathic Medicine. Dr. Horton received his Certification in Emergency Medicine in 1980. Additionally, Dr. Horton has been very involved in both Hospital and Community activities ranging from involvement on both county and state advisory boards to founding the American College of Osteopathic Emergency Physicians in 1973.

Dr. Horton focused on Emergency Medicine until he shifted to occupational medicine in 1988. Since that time, Dr. Horton has been recognized as one of the leaders in Occupational Medicine in the Midwest. Dr. Horton went on to found the Horton Occupational Health clinic in 1999. He owned and operated the clinic until 2011 when he sold his practice to Ingalls Hospital. Dr. Horton continued to work at the occupational medical clinic until he retired February of 2013 after 46 years in practice.

After a short retirement Dr. Horton joined the Comprehensive Care team in March of 2014. Dr. Horton went on to receive his National Registry Certified Medical Examiner certification in 2014.

Nadine Burns, DNP, MS, CNM, FNP-BC

Nadine began her education with a Diploma in Nursing from South Chicago Community Hospital of Nursing in 1984. She continued her education with a BS in Nursing in 1994, a Master of Science in Nursing from Purdue in 1997, a Post Graduate Certificate in 1999 for Midwifery and she received her Doctorate of Nursing Practice from Valparaiso University in 2013. Recently, Nadine earned her National Registry Certified Medical Examiner certification allowing her to perform DOT and FMCSA physicals.

Nadine has worked in a variety of positions ranging from primary care to emergent care to occupational medicine. Nadine joined the Comprehensive Care team in 2014 to complete the Clinical Staff.

Lynn Schmitt, PT

Lynn Schmitt is the Director of Comprehensive Therapy. Lynn has worked for Comprehensive Care for 5 years and has been a practicing therapist for 23 years. She graduated from the IU School of Physical Therapy in 1991. She has worked in a variety of physical therapy settings in Indianapolis, Cincinnati and Northwest Indiana including acute care, outpatient care and worker rehabilitation. Lynn was also the sole proprietor of her own PT practice for 4 years. She is a NSCA-certified personal trainer, a certified functional capacity evaluator, and a certified Kinesiotape practitioner. Currently she is working on her transitional Doctorate of Physical Therapy and hopes to complete her studies in March, 2016.

Vimal Sharma, PT

Vimal received his BS in Physical Therapy from DU, Delhi, India. He received his MP level 3 Golf fitness certification with Titleist in 2009. He also received CFCE (Certified Functional Capacity Evaluator) Oct-2013. Currently he is working on specialization in manual therapy with St. Augustine University, Florida.

Vimal joined Comprehensive care in 2012 as a Sr. Physical Therapist. He provides direct patient care including evaluations for FCE and Work Conditioning, in addition to planning and providing appropriate treatment.

Vimal worked at Ingalls outpatient facility from 2007 to 2012 providing direct Patient care including evaluation, planning treatment and providing treatment including FCE and work conditioning evaluation.

Vimal worked at CRS (Marion joy outpatient Rehab facility) from 2006-2007 treating TBI (traumatic brain injury), spinal cord injury and stroke patients.

Vimal worked as Sr. Physical Therapist as SMNH in Chicago from 1994 to 2006. His work focused on one-on-one patient care in outpatient, acute and rehab settings. Additionally, he was part of the administrative team assisting the department director with day to day activities.

Anthony B. Marquez, PTA, BS

Anthony received his B.S. of Science in Kinesiology from Indiana University in 2006. He began working as a personal trainer while attending Ivy Tech Physical Therapy Assistant Program. During the final year of his PTA program, Anthony was hired by Comprehensive Care as an Ergonomic Screener. Anthony graduated with his PTA degree in 2009 and was brought on board as a licensed Physical Therapist Assistant. Currently Anthony is the Ergonomic Coordinator for Comprehensive Care. During his time as the coordinator Anthony has reformed the Ergonomics program. He and his ergonomic team have developed numerous post offer screenings, safe lifting programs, stretching and exercise programs, physical demand analyses, safety analyses, work station evaluations and early intervention programs.

Katrina Madoll, PTA

Katrina started with Comprehensive Therapy in 2010 as the front desk registrar/PT Tech. Katrina enjoyed working in the therapy department so much she decided to resign in 2012 to continue her education and enrolled in school to become a PTA. She is now an enthusiastic, licensed PTA who graduated from Fox College August 2013 and obtained her licensure in October 2013. Shortly after, Comprehensive Therapy brought Katrina back to join their team as a PTA.

Aside from working as a PTA treating patients, Katrina also assists the department by performing return to work and pre-employment ergonomic screens for multiple client companies. Katrina continues her training to provide various modality treatments on patients. Katrina is a team player who enjoys being part of a team to help maintain a successful working environment. She will continue to take continuing education courses that will help to sharpen, improve her skills so she is able to further establish herself as a therapist.

Brian Gonzalez, PTA

After graduating high school in 2004 Brian joined the United States Army where he spent nearly 6 years of his life. Upon leaving the Army he enrolled in Ivy Tech Community College to pursue a degree as a PTA. Brian graduated Ivy Tech in May of 2014 and currently works as a PTA at Comprehensive Therapy. Brian also performs home health Physical Therapy. His areas of interest include coaching various sports, softball, and bowling.
